The long-awaited performances of the ballet "The Nutcracker" will soon begin at the Alexandrinsky Theatre

Classical choreography by Vainonen, set design by Petr Okunev, and costumes by theatre designer Tatyana Noginova will create an unforgettable atmosphere for the audience this winter. The L. Yakobson Ballet Theatre invites both children over six years old and their parents to this magical production to the music of Tchaikovsky. The Alexandrinsky Theatre invites you to immerse yourself in the enchanting world of one of the most famous ballet performances on the eve of the school holidays.

Nikolai Tsiskaridze, a famous principal dancer of the Bolshoi Theatre and now the head of the Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet, was able to make The Nutcracker more modern, while preserving the classical libretto by Marius Petipa based on the fairy tale by Hoffmann. During his career, he performed the part of the Nutcracker more than once, which became a real joy for him. Taking part in foreign tours and projects, Tsiskaridze gained significant international experience.

This performance, traditionally performed by the school for the New Year, tells the Christmas story of the courageous Nutcracker, the toys that came to life and his transformation into a handsome prince. Tsiskaridze's editors enlivened the production, adding new details and episodes that gave "The Nutcracker" a special magical atmosphere. Tatyana Noginova created unique costumes, especially highlighting the images of mice ready to fight the formidable Mouse King.

The joint work of Tsiskaridze and Noginova increased the emotional richness of the performance, emphasizing the need for a common fight against evil. Petr Okunev, striving for maximum detail, created a cozy stage atmosphere, full of antique clocks and a magnificent Christmas tree.

The Yakobson Theatre did not simplify complex elements, such as the support of Princess Masha, which makes the production even more spectacular. The famous pink waltz and Chinese dance performed by Nuria Kartamysova and Dmitry Sobolev are also impressive. The theatre has repeatedly presented this production on the stage of the Alexandrinsky Theatre and toured with it around the world. Interestingly, this New Year's ballet was especially successful in Thailand.
