Description

The Second Stage of the Bolshoi Drama Theater, also known as the Kamennoostrovsky Theater, is an outstanding example of Russian wooden architecture from the Classical period. Built in 1827 according to designs by Smaragd Shustov, this theater is the only surviving wooden theater in Russia. Located on Kamenny Island, it served as a summer entertainment venue for high society, including members of the imperial family and high-ranking officers.

After the 1917 Revolution, the theater underwent several transformations and was used for various cultural events. In 2001, it was designated an architectural monument of federal significance. In 2005, the building was transferred to the Bolshoi Drama Theater and, after extensive renovations, reopened in 2012 as the Second Stage of the Bolshoi Drama Theater.

Today, the Kamennoostrovsky Theater is equipped with modern equipment, preserving the historical authenticity of its architecture. The performance schedule and playbill are available on our website. Tickets can be purchased through our channels.
